Cosmo’s Last Ride

We had to put Cosmo to sleep today. After more than 12 years with us, she just couldn’t go on any longer. This was the hardest and saddest thing we’ve ever done.

We met Cosmo in 1991 at the Humane Society animal shelter in Austin, TX. She was a stray, and they estimated that she was about a year old at the time. We adopted her, and she has been part of our family ever since. She was the most perfect dog ever, and she was our first baby. If not for her, we might never have had Lucinda.

On her last day, we gave her lots of treats to eat, and took her for one last shuffling walk around the neighborhood. Then we went to the vet. She was so scared, and we did our best to comfort her while they gave her the injection. And then it was over.

We will never forget her.

Today we told Lucinda that we were going to do something fun all together. She asked to go back to see the Titanic exhibit at the science museum. So we went down to Exposition Park. First we went to see the butterflies at the Natural History Museum, and after that we went to see the Titanic.

We went to see “Terminator 3” today. It was entertaining in the usual way. This was also one of our rare trips into Old Town Pasadena, so afterward we had dinner at Cafe Bizou.

Here are some recent examples of Lucinda’s artwork. She made these today and put them in a little envelope for us.

This week we rented “Hairspray” for Lucinda. She’s watched it at least six or seven times so far. She likes the dancing, but we had to explain what was going on in the story, since she didn’t know what ‘segregation’ was.

I should have done this last week…

I put one of those little online poll thingies on the dot-com album page. I’ve noticed that when people post the link to my album on a page that allows feedback, there is often a debate about is-this-funny-or-sad. So a poll is just natural. The poll is here.

There is another rush on the web server today. Not as big as last week’s but still it’s amusing. The links generating it are:

http://www.browsertune.com/flanga/hotspots.htm
http://www.canada.com/technology/webjunkie

The traffic from these two is running just about neck-and-neck. In addition, there are some other new links, but not generating significant traffic:

http://fugitivealien.com/

More traffic today. We got a link from http://www.fajaf.com/lankarkiv.html. I don’t know what language it is, but a lot of people must read it. Other new links include:

Lucinda had a sleepover with Aunt Maggi this weekend. This was nice, since we got to spend some quiet couple time at home. And we also got to go out to a party for the first time in months.

And the traffic is finally dying down on our web server. Check out the graph of our network traffic for the last three weeks.
