Mr. Chemistry
We took Lucinda to the Altadena Library this evening for a chemistry and magic show. He showed various chemical reactions that change color or make gas. The climax of the show was when he made ice cream with a jug of liquid nitrogen. Lucinda enjoyed watching the show and at the end she got some of the ice cream.
Also, Lucinda found another praying mantis in the back yard, so today I got another bug cage and some crickets to feed both of them. Here’s one of them chowing down.

Nice mantis! Ours aren’t that big, but they sure like to eat.
We have a colony of walking sticks. The adults are about 10cm long. We’ve had them for about five years now. They’re easy to maintain, and they just keep reproducing (parthenogenetically). You’re welcome to a dozen or so. Let me know.

Hi. I’ve created an interactive periodic table on my chemistry blog page. Unlike the countless “me-too” html periodic tables, this one is definitively the best on the web. It is best by virtue of being smaller, faster, a single flash file (as opposed to multiple html pages), very full-featured, permitting special visualization in attribute graphs & most importantly in table coloring based on element attributes.
